The ancient olive oil mill is at the end of the alley. We preserved the presses, the stone runner, the mechanisms which drove the mill and the stables.

In its vaulted rooms, an apartment of great charm, l’Ouliveto. Its thick walls will tell you they used to shelter tanks full of olive oil and will speak about alchemy to you, about green gold or fruity nectar with incomparable virtues.

Now, the mill is inactive, but we always have horses at the nearby stables ! Our son, Sébastien, is a horse breeder and at LE PETIT ROMAN he organizes horse rides through out the Alpilles wooded hollow.

If you go for a ride with Sébastien he will explain the barouches and the equipment his great grand-father used to harness the draught horses in the past. At that time, the tractors did not exist and the ploughing was done with a swing-plough. Only "gee ups", shouted to guide the horse, were coming from in the fields.
